BARD

noun. a poet or storyteller, traditionally one reciting epics and associated with particular oral tradition.

An ongoing series of folktale tellings, created and showcased for social media.

This series of online folktales aims to redefine the relationship we have with our social media platforms. When online, we are often forced to consume as much information as possible; getting caught in endless scrolling loops, and never giving any content more than a few seconds of our concentration before moving onto the next.

With these longform storytelling videos, I hope to bring people out of that cycle of binge-scrolling, and offer something that will allow them to slow down, and provide a chapter of calm amidst their day. Filmed out in nature, each folktale brings the viewer into an immersive experience, and asks nothing from them other than to be the listener.

As is often the case with folktales, each one is firmly rooted within nature; providing us answers to some of life’s mysticism, and encouraging us to think more closely about the landscapes which surround us. The stories act as radical ecological messages; which once would have been common knowledge, but which we are now having to relearn in a modern age.

You can find these folk stories here.
